Description of L+R and LTS
L+R LTS

Two companies, one common origin—and yet completely different paths

Many people wonder:
How can it be that two companies in the healthcare sector have the same name—and yet have nothing to do with each other?
The answer is more exciting than you might think at first glance. The name “Lohmann” is no coincidence, but rather a piece of industrial history. Over the decades, two completely different companies have developed from a traditional origin – each with its own identity, its own focus, and its own market. And it is precisely this development that continues to cause confusion today.

LTS Lohmann – the high-tech specialist for drug delivery systems
LTS Lohmann Therapie Systeme emerged from a former division of the historic Lohmann GmbH & Co.KG. While the original company had a broad focus, LTS developed a highly specialized focus: drug delivery without tablets and without injections.
Today, LTS is an internationally sought-after technology leader for:
• Transdermal therapeutic systems (active ingredient patches)
• Oral active ingredient films that dissolve in the mouth
• Other innovative drug delivery technologies
LTS works primarily in the background – as a partner to both large pharmaceutical companies and smaller pharmaceutical companies that later distribute the finished products under their own brands.

Lohmann & Rauscher – the all-rounder for medical care
It is no coincidence that Lohmann & Rauscher (L&R) also bears a historic name. The company was formed in 1998 through the merger of the dressing materials division of Lohmann GmbH with the Austrian company Rauscher.
Today, L&R is a global supplier of:
• Dressings and compresses
• Plasters and wound care products
• Surgical sets and medical textiles
• Hygiene and hospital supplies
While LTS works behind the scenes, L&R is visible wherever medical care is provided – in hospitals, practices, care facilities, and in retail.
In short, L&R is the practical supplier to the healthcare sector.

So why are the two companies still constantly confused?
There are three simple reasons for this:
1. Their shared historical origins
Both companies originate from the former Lohmann Group – hence the identical part of their names.
2. Both work in the healthcare sector
To outsiders, the boundaries quickly become blurred, even though their tasks are completely different.
3. Both have regional roots.
LTS is headquartered in Andernach, while Lohmann & Rauscher is based in Neuwied.
The difference in one sentence
LTS delivers active ingredients INTO the body – L&R delivers dressings ONTO the body.

Conclusion
The shared name only connects the two companies historically – in terms of content, they are worlds apart. LTS stands for high-tech pharmaceuticals, L&R for medical care.

WE Care. WE Create. WE Deliver.
